Compatibility Analysis
Explore new ways of connecting with people around you through compatibility analysis.
You’ll uncover hidden aspects of each other.
Independent of the Big Five, our compatibility analysis helps you understand how well you and others fit together.
We provide concrete advice on how two people who have taken the personality assessment can start a relationship and what to do to build a favorable long-term relationship. (Compatibility can be assessed remotely without meeting in person.)
People are all unique, and while the Big Five test has been mainstream in conventional compatibility apps, the Big Five test is inadequate for gauging the nuances of “compatibility” between living, ever-changing human beings.
This app delivers a highly precise compatibility assessment by combining Jungian psychology, Cloninger’s temperament-and-character theory, and Polyvagal Theory, and offers hints for building healthy, lasting relationships.
The only app that can assess and analyze compatibility by relationship context—not limited to romance.
What if the other person were your friend? A colleague? A work partner? A romantic partner? A parent or child? We also analyze compatibility by context.
From common pitfalls the two of you may fall into to tips for building a long-lasting connection, this is the only compatibility app that looks beyond romance and evaluates compatibility across all kinds of human relationships.
Features of This App
This personality and compatibility app takes a clear step beyond conventional tools such as the Big Five and MBTI. It offers an evidence-based yet clinically grounded assessment. Using multivariate analysis on data from more than 300 general adults to select and analyze meaningful items—and validating the results with the real-world compatibility of over 100 couples—it provides personality and compatibility evaluations with practical predictive power. Developed by Tetsuo Fukushima, a licensed clinical psychologist, it builds on many years of clinical experience, together with research and teaching involving non-clinical populations such as university students.
As a result, the assessment does more than simply “assign a type” or list “which traits are high or low.” It is designed to offer guidance on how to understand your personality and, if you wish to change, how you can begin to change. For the compatibility assessment as well, we created the content while confirming with many couples the realities of their relationships, so the explanations are written to help you work toward “a more comfortable relationship for the two of you.”
For each pairing, we use somewhat catchy titles to make an impact; however, please don’t fixate on the titles. Read the explanations and aim for better relationships.
To be sure, both the Big Five and MBTI have strengths. The Big Five “summarizes behavioral tendencies,” but it often stops at stating which traits are high or low, which easily raises the question, “So what does that mean for me?” In that sense, while its validity is high, its practical everyday usefulness can feel limited.
MBTI, on the other hand, is easy to understand but suffers from low validity. Focusing on “which type” one is can make it harder to see fine-grained individual tendencies, and type labels can bias how things are perceived.
In our approach, we begin—like MBTI—from a typological labeling perspective, but we are not bound by it; we incorporate Cloninger’s personality theory and the dimensions emphasized in social psychology and relationship/love research—whether one seeks similarity or is drawn to difference—while also adding over 40 years of Dr. Fukushima’s clinical and educational experience, to address the question of “how each of us can change for the better.”
Furthermore, this app includes a highly unique, practical support feature that delivers “Today’s Advice” in clear, concrete language tailored to your personality type. Rather than ending with a one-off diagnosis, it focuses on the keyword “today,” emphasizing how to put yourself to use in everyday life. What all types have in common is not denying your individuality, but understanding it—and taking a forward-looking view of how to adjust and apply it in your relationships and at work.
You can grasp concretely what you can do right now, without vague worries about your personality or your compatibility with a partner. This setup lightens psychological burden and encourages a positive first step: “let’s start with what we can do.”
Read it in the morning and it becomes a guide for the day; read it at night and it offers hints for reflecting on the day. This flexibility is one of its appeals.
What we value in this app is delivering small daily hints so that you can be “true to yourself—without becoming isolated.” In other words, it is a personal guide for modern life: know yourself, and little by little build comfortable relationships with others. As a wayfinder on that journey, we hope it becomes a reassuring presence.
- “Jungian psychology” ・ “Cloninger’s temperament-and-character theory” ・ “Polyvagal Theory” — about these
-
This app is a personality and compatibility assessment unlike any other, combining Jungian psychology, Cloninger’s temperament-and-character theory, and Polyvagal Theory. Jungian psychology is known for dividing personality into introversion and extraversion, and it also understands human behavior through four functions: thinking, intuition, feeling, and sensation. It is more complex than the Big Five, but with practice it offers explanatory and predictive power for human behavior.
Cloninger’s personality theory is a modern account that clarifies traits such as “novelty seeking” and “self-transcendence,” linking them with neuroscience and genetic research.
Porges’s Polyvagal Theory is a cutting-edge theory that, from a neuroscientific perspective on the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and dysfunctions of the vagus nerve, clarifies arousal and calm, stress responses, sociality, and intimacy.
Our app is based on Jung’s typology, augmented by pilot studies and statistical analyses, and incorporates Cloninger’s theory and Polyvagal Theory, drawing on the latest findings in neuroscience and genetics.
- How do the Big Five Personality Traits differ from this app?
-
Big Five Personality Traits classify how we recognize our own and others’ personalities (self-recognition and recognition of others) along cognitive dimensions. They have been repeatedly tested worldwide and are widely accepted. However, they concern cognition, not the actual prediction of behavior. Moreover, for predicting behaviors that arise from interpersonal interaction—that is, compatibility—they are of limited use.
For example, everyone accepts that music has genres such as jazz, rock, and J-POP. But when it comes to how melodies are structured, such as which chord progressions they use, a different theory is required. Likewise, this app approaches behavioral prediction using insights from Jungian psychology, Cloninger’s temperament-and-character theory, and Polyvagal Theory.

Director, Seijo Counseling Office
For over 30 years, I have been engaged in introducing, practicing, and researching Jungian psychology in a way that suits contemporary Japanese people. As a clinical psychologist and licensed psychologist, I also provide various forms of counseling at the Seijo Counseling Office. I have extensive experience in love counseling and couples counseling. Based on many years of counseling, my motto is: “Love is nurtured by compatibility.” In other words, if you meet someone who is compatible with you, love will naturally follow. This applies not only to romance, but also to friendships and work relationships.
I believe that the key to happiness lies in each person finding friends, partners, and work that truly suit them, and in living a life that feels authentic. This belief is what inspired the development of this app. Moreover, this is not limited to Jungian psychology—it also incorporates Cloninger’s temperament-and-character theory and Porges’s Polyvagal Theory to provide the most up-to-date personality analysis.
You can easily get started just by installing the app (free).
